Department of Microbiology

Department of Microbiology was established in the year 2007. We have well equipped laboratory with all experimental instruments. To give an idea for the students about the techniques of tissue culture, our college microbiology and zoology Department have established the vermicompost pits and Green house.

The department conducts industrial and Research lab study tour for V & VI semester students annually. The department of Microbiology organizes various Guest lectures and Seminars for benefit of students.

Objectives

Micro-organisms make a significant contribution & are therefore for their Importance to human life. They have also helped in the development of Biotechnology. Microbes affect both Positively & Negatively on Human life. They play an important role in all aspects of life. Applications of Microbiology as Agricultural Microbiology, Bio-fertilizers, Environmental Microbiology, Bio-Remediation, Bio-leaching, Industrial Microbiology-Fermentation Technology, Wine [production], Medical Microbiology – Immunology-immuno-techniques (ELISA,RIA,PCR,Monoclonal Antibodies Production).


• To create awareness about the emerging diseases and their treatment.

• To educate the students hygiene about personal health and hygiene.

• To cerate interest among student in the field and research.

• To motivate the students in their overall development through seminars and group discussion

• To create interest in students towards curriculum and extra curricular Activities.

• To guide the poor students to get progress in their studies.

• To introduce and expose the subject to the students of rural and Urban area.

• To develop the experimental skills amongst the students.

Soubhagya Hosamani:- Secured Gold Medal in MS c Microbiology from Gulbaraga University in the year 2017-2018.


Mr. Vinayak Nagaral secured 2nd prize in Karate competition held at Jamakhandi College in 2016-2017, as well as he secured 2nd prize in Folk orchestra held at Bannahatti.


Mr. Vinayak Nagaral secured 2nd prize in NIC camp held at Gujarat from 24thAugust 2018 to 4th September 2018. He got 2nd place in Science Drama competition held at Jamakhandi.

• R.I. Soudagar as BOAE Member BOS Memberof Rani Channamma University. Paper presentation was done in Commerce,B.H.S.Arts & T.G.P Science College Jamkhandi on July 29-30,2015.“On Biodegradation of Xenobiotic compounds”.
