Subject outcomes for DMS CS1.1: Discrete Mathematics(10hrs X 5 = 50hrs)

Students will be able to learn and understand the following concepts.

1. Understand the Sets and Logic: Conditional propositions and logical equivalence

2. Understand the proofs of mathematical systems, direct proofs ,mathematical induction.

3. Identify the relational database,partially ordered sets.

4. Define the functions of algebra.

5. Understand the problems on Number theory,divisors

6. Define the Euclidean algorithm.

7. Understand the problems on Counting Methods and the Pigeonhole Principle

8. Understand the problems on permutations and combinations, algorithms for generating permutations and combinations

9. Define the concept of The Pigeonhole Principle

10. Define the Graphs concept like Paths and Cycles, Hamiltonian Cycles and the Traveling Salesperson problem, a shortest-path algorithm, representations of graphs, isomorphisms of graphs

11. Define the semigroups and groups,product and quotients of semi groups

Subject outcomes for SYS-CS1.5:Data Structures (10hrs X 5 = 50hrs)

Students will be able to learn and understand the following concepts.

Students develop knowledge of basic data structures for storage and retrieval of ordered or unordered data.

1. Data structures include: arrays, linked lists, binary trees, heaps, and hash tables.

2. Students develop knowledge of applications of data structures including the ability to implement algorithms for the creation, insertion, deletion, searching, and sorting of each data structure.

3. Students learn to analyze and compare algorithms for efficiency using Big-O notation.

4. Students implement prorammes requiring the implementation of the above data structures.

5. To teach efficient storage mechanisms of data for an easy access.

6. To design and implementation of various basic and advanced data structures.

7. To introduce various techniques for representation of the data in the real world.

8. To develop application using data structures.

9. To teach the concept of protection and management of data.
